A Library Management System is a software application designed to help libraries manage books, members, and daily operations efficiently. The system automates tasks such as book registration, cataloging, borrowing, returning, and fine calculation. It allows librarians to track available and borrowed books while enabling members to search for books and manage their accounts easily.
The system improves accuracy, reduces paperwork, saves time, and enhances service delivery within the library. It also generates reports on book availability, overdue books, and member activities, making library administration more organized and effective.
A detailed document describing system requirements, user roles (admin, librarian, student/member), functional requirements (book issue, return, search, fine calculation), and non-functional requirements such as security and performance.
Contains system architecture, database schema, UML diagrams, interface layouts, and workflow diagrams showing how the library system will operate.
Development of a database to store books, members, transactions, fines, and staff records. Includes tables, relationships, and sample data.
The actual software system with features such as:
Book registration
Member registration
Borrowing and returning books
Fine management
Search and reporting tools
Documentation of system testing including unit testing, integration testing, user acceptance testing, bug reports, and fixes to ensure the system works correctly.
A guide explaining how librarians and users can operate the system, including screenshots, instructions, troubleshooting tips, and training materials.
